Exploring the paradox of the American Christian Right emphasizing "character" in political leaders while enthusiastically supporting characters like Trump.
I'm beginning to think the entire world is upside down, especially if relates to Trump * Religion * Christian Nationalists. (And I grew up hearing those Evangelical Extremists shouting on television as they stomped around the stage of their million dollar church concert, declaring you aren't worth a damn if you're not donating your entire paycheck to "God".) The fact that everyone has hitched their horse to Trump (aka Messiah Trump/Savior Trump/Jesus Reincarnated Trump), and they don't care whether that horse drives off of a high cliff, so long as they feel great on the way down.
I enjoyed this piece. I saw it on the internet & had to come tell you. I was a young teen when Clinton was in office and remember everything so vividly about his presidency and the scandal that never ended. I never really understood the sheer amount of hate frankly, but I understood the reason. When you shared those quotes, I could've SWORN it was about Trump!! How uncanny. It paralled perfect. I kind of want to print it out and tape it to all of the Maga members of my family's windshields. Add a little sticky note with the question, "Remember when you stood for this?'.
Omg I want off this timeline and out of my red extremist state. Being a blue dot here makes me feel like I'm losing my mind.
