You might want to research how the most prominent Founding Fathers of America were influenced by the Socinian version of Christianity. And by Joseph Priestley, a Socinian, friend of Benjamin Franklin, and their contemporary. Socinianism was a version of Christianity that was unitarian, pro science, pro separation of church and state, valued reason and rationality, valued personal integrity, valued social justice, helped start The Enlightenment, started in Poland, and was feared by and severely persecuted by the Catholic Church in 1628 AD (Check out the entry about them in the Catholic Encyclopedia.)
